Referencing for IELTS Writing Task 1 (2) – correct or incorrect?
Let’s talk about referencing for IELTS, which I talked about in a previous post. Just as a reminder, it’s mentioned in the examiners' criteria for band scores 5 and 6.
Last time, I gave you some good examples of referencing that will help you to get a high score for C&C in writing Task 1
If there are errors in your referencing, you’ll get a 6 for C&C, so let's look at some mistakes, which you'll want to avoid in your writing.
Look at the sentences below and decide if they’re correct or incorrect.
Decide if the following are correct or incorrect
I had never given a speech before, and neither had I ever thought about doing it.
Both Iceland and NZ had more PCs than that of Portugal.
At the same time, about a quarter of Malaysians owned a mobile, while those of Portugal and Peru were around 12% and 8% respectively.
The highest ownership of PCs was seen in the US, where 90% of the population owned it.
The majority of people borrowing money borrowed money in order to buy a house or a car.
I suggest you use active reading to learn these high band score structures.
