Let’s talk about referencing for IELTS, which I talked about in a previous post.  Just as a reminder, it’s mentioned in the examiners' criteria for band scores 5 and 6.

Last time, I gave you some good examples of referencing that will help you to get a high score for C&C in writing Task 1

If there are errors in your referencing, you’ll get a 6 for C&C, so let's look at some mistakes, which you'll want to avoid in your writing.

I had never given a speech before, and neither had I ever thought about doing it.

Both Iceland and NZ had more PCs  than that of Portugal.

At the same time, about a quarter of Malaysians owned a mobile, while those of Portugal and Peru were around 12% and 8% respectively.

The highest ownership of PCs was seen in the US, where 90% of the population owned it.

The majority of people borrowing money borrowed money in order to buy a house or a car.
